The total turnover of the sectors under the economic regulation of the Competition Authority amounted to 1.25 billion € in 2024, of which nearly 2.4 million € is collected in supervision fees for the state budget. Of this amount, 1.6 million € is allocated to the Competition Authority for activities related to economic regulation, which is 0.75 million € less.
This means that the state is unfortunately not fully applying a portion of the supervision fees paid by consumers towards economic regulation, even though there is a clear need to enhance economic regulation in order to better protect consumer interests. In the long term, this situation cannot be sustainable or fair to consumers.
In 2024, the development of the Price Calculation Information System (HAI) continued, with the aim of making the process of approving and monitoring prices for district heating, water, gas, and electricity network services more transparent and efficient. The ARIS project was launched in collaboration with ACER and the Centre for Registries and Information Systems (RIK) to increase the Competition Authority’s capabilities and enhance the analysis and monitoring of offers made by undertakings operating on the power exchange.
The Authority actively participated in the Water Reform 2025+ projects, taking part in the development of incentives, performance indicators and benchmarking data. We also actively participated in discussions on reforming the postal and district heating sectors.
